Rules

The Spirit Factory's Sun and Spirit Open Nationals follows the rules and
guidelines of the USASF. All squads must register as USASF
Levels 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6. The USASF guidelines can be found here.

Divisions

Recreational Squads: (oldest child determines division**)

Mighty Mites 5 and under
Mini-Mites 6-8 years
Mites 9-10 years
Midgets 11-12 years
Juniors 13-14 years
Special Needs (all ages)


** For Recreational Squads only , competitors may be a year older
but in the same grade with a waiver from their Sports Association.

 

Schools

Middle School 6th to 8th Grade
High School
(will follow the National Federation of State High School Associations rules and
guidelines - www.nfhs.org)
Freshmen 9th Grade
Junior Varsity 9th to 11th Grade
Varsity 9th to 12th Grade
College 18 years and over

 

All-Stars

Tiny 5 and under, unlimited males
Mini 8 and under, unlimited males
Youth 11 and under, unlimited males
Junior 14 and under, no males
Junior Coed 14 and under, 1 or more males
Senior 18 and under, no males
Senior Coed 18 and under, 1 or more males
Open 17 and over, no males
Open Coed 17 and over, 1 or more males
Special Needs Any age, unlimited males,
unlimited members



All Divisions will have Small ( 5 to 20 members) and Large ( 21 to 36 members).

All Divisions will have both small (20 and fewer members) and large (21-36 members).
Non-Mount Divisions are the same as above. Please note on your registration form if you are a Non-Mount squad.

Scoring

The scoring at the Spirit Factory's Sun and Spirit Open Nationals is done on a 10 point Target Point Scoring System.
Using performance levels, quantity and quality of performance shown by majority of team members, the range of the score
will be no more than one point above or below the target point. In order to reach a target point of 9, teams must have more
than a majority of its team members executing superior or elite skills numerous times in the performance.

Target Point 3 Below Average Skill (Levels 1 and 2) Score: 1,2,3 or 4
Target Point 5 Average Skill (Level 3) Score: 4,5, or 6
Target Point 7 Above Average Skill (Level 4) Score: 6,7, or 8
Target Point 9 Superior Skill (Levels 5 and 6) Score: 8,9, or 10
